More specifically, a memory card with more storage than you can fill in a single flight is a bad idea.
Most 4k camera drones have a max VBR and flight time of 100 Mbps and 30 minutes. 100 Mbps for 30 mins will result in less than 22 GB of footage. When you land and swap the battery, assuming you want to ensure you don't loose the footage you just captured, you'd swap the microSD as well.
If you have a card that can store 2 flights worth of footage you'll get lazy, not swap the card, and risk losing previous flights footage with each successive flight. Furthermore, formatting the cards as part of the pre-deployment checklist reduces the risk of data corruption during flight.
