First time flyer - Holy Stone drone won't turn or go forward?

This is my first drone so I am very new to this I've taken my new Holy Stone HS700D out a couple times now and noticed that I am unable to get the drone to fly forward or turn (rotate) left and right. I have never crashed it or had any issues. I do have 12 satellites in my backyard and just cannot get the thing to fly forward no matter what altitude or battery power. It flies backwards really well, quick and responsive but it doesn't want to turn left and right, it will strafe left and right facing the same direction but the orientation will not change. Am I missing something?

I have flown RC planes and know it can just be a matter of adjusting the trim but as far as I know drones don't have trim correct? All calibrations are good before I take off. And if I preform a GPS "Trace Route" it flies forward like a champ.
