Hey everyone. I am finally going to get my first ever "pro" drone. Its a Mini 2. I live rather close to the border (less than 5 miles from it) in Texas. I read the FAAs rules and I understand a few of them but am confused about a lot. Can anyone that knows the R&R of Texas let me know the basic rules for a casual flyer?
I will not be using this drone commercially at all. Its going to be solely for my personal use (aka posting on my instagram/facebook. Maybe even reddit) so I dont think Im going to get any kind of registration/licence for Commercial flying. But I am worried about breaking some rules. So If anyone understands the rules clearly, can you explain what are some rules I can potentially break on accident?
I do understand my drone has to be in my FOV the whole time, as well as it cannot be over 400ft above the ground (there are exceptions). I also understand I have to give way to manned aircrafts like planes and helicopters. I also understand I must be atleast 5(or 10 I forgot) miles from an airport to safely fly it. I also cant fly over cars, busy roads. Also people, unless I have their permission. But, apart from those "basic" rules is there anything I should know?
Like I stated earlier I do live in Texas and less than 5 miles from the US-Mexico border. Would this be a problem? Can I fly in public parks as long as I dont fly over people?
Is there anything I didnt go over that is clearly stated in the FAA R&R?
Thank you for your time. Any help is appreciated.
