I recently bought the DJI Air 2S for an upcoming trip. I am traveling domestically within the USA on Frontier Airlines. I am confused about how to bring my drone with me and the 2 extra DJI Intelligent Flight Batteries.
I see on the Frontier Airlines website that they say:
Lithium batteries may be accepted under the following conditions:
Checked: No loose batteries may be accepted. Batteries must be installed in a device when packed in a checked bag.
Carry-On: A limit of two loose lithium batteries may be transported in carry-on baggage when stored in zip top plastic bags, original retail packing, or when the terminals are protected with non- conductive tape or when installed within electronic devices. For lithium metal batteries, the battery weight must be 2 grams or less per battery. For lithium- ion batteries, the battery weight must be 8 grams or less per battery. (https://www.flyfrontier.com/media/1206/baggage_fragile-and-special-items.pdf?mobile=true)
They mention that lithium ion batteries are only allowed in checked bags if installed in the device, which covers the drone with its battery, but for my 2 additional Lithium Ion Polymer Intelligent Flight Batteries (13.2V, 40.42Wh), I am confused on how to transport them. Obviously these batteries are far over 8 grams (245g to be exact). What would you recommend? To me, the 8 gram limit is very confusing as I don’t know of any Lithium Ion batteries that would be so small.
Thank you for your help!
