Drones for use during disasters?

Hi all! I’m a disaster risk scientist who studies natural hazards (like floods and wildfires) and I’m interested in deploying drones before, during, and after disasters for data collection and research. I have absolutely no experience with drones but would eventually like one that can be used for geospatial data collection and mapping (like mapping the extent of a burned area after a wildfire) in addition to photography. Any advice on where to start?
