Help making Eachine Assassin 180 FPV work

I got an Eachine Assassin 180 FPV drone second hand that was only flown once before I flew it. When I flew it, it lost signal, flew away, and crashed half a mile out. It took forever to find. This drone has an on-board baro sensor and GPS but for some dumb reason neither are enabled out of the box. It has a NAZE32 FC. I want to program it to resist fucking off again straight away.

Im trying to connect to it with Baseflight Configurator and tried Cleanflight also. I installed the UART drivers and restarted. The device shows up in Device Manager on COM3 but neither Baseflight nor Cleanflight will connect to it. Documentation/tutorials on the web are non-existent. The paper manual that it ships with is a joke and not helpful at all.
