What to buy for searching area.

I'm looking to buy a drone to search the area my dog went missing during camping. The area is a huge open desert with some mountains and hills. The area is blm land and not a regular campsite. I'm looking at the dji mini 2 and the Mavic air 2. The problem is idk of I'm going to keep it or return it after my search, so idk if getting the air 2 is worth it since it would have to be registered with the faa. I've already searched the area by foot, quad, and truck. I have my tent still up with items to help him pick up the scent along with food and water. I've climbed the mountains and have scanned the area with binoculars as well. I feel a drone would help in my search. My budget is around $1k (+/-). Any advice is appreciated.
