Drone footage of the Entrepeñas Reservoir
Video aerial: Guadalajara – a river flowing between stones (October 2017)
Guadalajara is one of the most beautiful provinces that we usually visit. Although we already knew the Alta Tahoe, Sierra Norte de Guadalajara and Briuega areas, we went a little further south to fly our Phantom for another one of the treasures that this region offers us: the surroundings of Saccedona and Entrepeñas Reservoir.
East reservoir which belongs to the Tagus basin, located between the municipalities of Sassedon and Aunon, is experiencing rather difficult times due to the drought that the peninsula is currently experiencing, worsened by the consequences climate change it should be added that it is one of two reservoirs of Spain (together with the Buendia reservoir), from which c Transfer Tahoe-Segurawhich, while not taking up more time in the news, is leaving hidden effects in the donor pool.
In theory, this transfer is regulated in such a way as to guarantee the least impact on the Tagus River basin, especially after the entry into force of Law 21/2013. This is done by means of a system of sections, by means of which, depending on the volume of water in these reservoirs, a greater or lesser amount of water will be transferred to the Seguri Basin.
Although the economic impact of this move to the south of our Mediterranean coast may be beneficial (an area known as the Garden of Europe due to the amount of vegetables grown there), it should not be forgotten that this is a mammoth human intervention for of the geography of our country, which was carried out for many years at the cost of hampering the economic and demographic development of one of the most affected regions of the Spanish geography, as can be seen in video. One may wonder how justified it is in the southeast of the peninsula, a naturally arid region, to support an economy based on irrigated crops at the expense of water from other regions of the country. Recently green paper added fuel to that fire by assuring in a report that the Segura Basin is not actually in deficit and advocating for the transfer to be shut down.
Regardless, there’s no doubt that visiting Guadalajara with a drone is still a treat for the eyes that we hope you’ll enjoy with these Aerial photographs.
More information about the drought:
We captured with a drone the flooded resort of Real Sitio de La Isabela, which has been in plain sight for years due to the lack of water
Royal Place of La Isabela captured by drone (December 2017)
The royal place of La Isabela was a small town whose activities from the beginning of the 19th century revolved around the resort. During the hydrographic restructuring carried out during the dictatorship, this interesting place was flooded to create the Buendía Reservoir, which we have talked about many times in this blog.
Current situation of reservoirs
As we remember, the Buendía Reservoir, together with the Entrepeñas Reservoir, is responsible for supplying water to the Tajo Segura transmission. Although both reservoirs are currently in a particularly critical state due to the drought that is hitting us (the Buendia reservoir currently holds 156 cubic hectometres of water, which is 9.5% of its total capacity), it should be noted that they are reservoirs suffering from chronic water shortages that have stagnated for years at close to 20% of their capacity, which unfortunately means that the Royal Territory of La Isabela has been out for a while water.
The Tajo-Segura transfer is planned in such a way that the transferred water varies according to the existing reserves in the two donor reservoirs, in order to guarantee water reserves in the Tagus basin. However, given the current situation, it is more than obvious that:
- Transfer is very scarce when it comes to protecting the interests of the Castilla-La Mancha region.
- Due to this serious situation, the water transfer at the moment is almost no water in the Segura Basin, whose reservoirs are also in an alarming situation.
With these two pieces of information on the table, one wonders if the Tagus was primarily suitable for supplying water to the south-eastern parts of the peninsula, and if so, there is no doubt that the management of these waters was not a responsibility, as we now have not one, but two pools are in an alarming state. Although the problem is a lack of rainfall, which is undoubtedly due to climate change caused by all of us, the lack of planning for the management of our hydrographic resources has only exacerbated the problem.

Current drought situation in the Entrepeñas Reservoir
We encourage you to visit our video: The Entrepeñas Reservoir is in critical condition as seen from a drone
It is time to realize that our actions have an impact on the environment, and our environment continues to provide us with everything we need to develop our activities and our lives.
Update 7/12/2017:
Our friends on the platform The Tagus River: Alive They informed us that the part that appeared is not actually the Real Sitio de la Isabela spa, but the town next to it, and that the building that stands out by itself is probably a mansion , who was there. If the water level continues to fall, you will soon be able to see the bridge that was built just twenty years before the flood, and if it drops a little more, now the spa.
Situation of the Entrepeñas Reservoir after one year (December 2018):
We wanted to keep a close eye on the development of this environmental tragedy, and this September we returned to check the state of the reservoir, taking advantage of our DJI Inspire 2 and our new Phantom 4 Pro V2.0, which can be seen at the beginning of video.
You can see at a glance that there is much more water, and the activity in the reservoir confirms this, although we must not forget that today, December 2018, it has only 38% of its capacity: small, but a percentage that, in particular, increases the reservoir’s average capacity by 27.47% at this time of the year over the past 10 years, which contrasts with the particularly critical situation the reservoir experienced a year ago, as we all remember, when it was only 9% of its capacity.
Perhaps the situation is not so critical and not so staggering, but it is still alarming that 38% capacity is cause for «celebration» (in many quotes). That such a low level turns out to be exceptionally high should force us to rethink the water model we support today.
We leave you here video which we recorded in September.
Indeed, the condition of the Entrepeñas Reservoir, although not extraordinary, improves the appearance of what we see, unfortunately, this short improvement may just be a mirage.
Bird’s eye view of Guadalajara in autumn
Drone footage of Guadalajara’s autumn landscapes
This week we took advantage of the sun to capture the fall colors in some of our favorite places in the province of Guadalajara.
Aerial video of Solanillos del Extremo (day of leisure)
Solanillos del Extremo drone footage (November 2016)
We went with our drone to Solanillos del Extremo. Not everything will work. They say that if you have free time, you can’t help but use it to continue developing yours worked, you can unequivocally say that your calling. That being said, we have no choice but to plead guilty, because if there’s one thing we love more than spending a day outdoors enjoying nature, it’s doing it with drone in the air. And the fact is that nothing compares to the feeling of breathing in clean air, activities relevant reviews to make sure you can fly safely and watch your drone slice through the sky at your command. We’re fascinated by drones, and every indication is that we’ll continue to be fascinated by them until we have wings on our backs that allow us to fly ourselves.
Solanillos del Extremo is a town in Guadalajara located 8.4 kilometers from the Trillo nuclear power plant: enough distance to be able to fly drones under the protection of the law, outside the LEP139 zone that delimits the surface that can be flown around this center.
Drone video: Eamon salt flats
Salinas de Imón drone footage (September 2017)
Imón is a small district of Siguenza located in the Sierra Norte de Guadalajara. Although it has few inhabitants, this idyllic place stands out for its salt flats, which have become the highest productions on the peninsula. dates, is abandoned and the structures are falling apart over time, they are still part of the iconic landscape of Guadalajara, a must-stop for anyone passing through the Siguenza area, and, of course, this is the only thing that we did not want to miss the opportunity to immortalize in it video with drone.
We chose this particular place to do a video immersion of these 360 landscapes that you can see 360 aerial video of Salinas de Imon. Don’t miss it, it’s like a hot air balloon ride over beautiful Salinas de Imón.
Aerial view of Chequila (Alta Tahoe-Guadalajara)
Aerial video of Chequila, Guadalajara (October 2016)
On this occasion, we will show you the surroundings of Chequil: a pearl embedded in the orography of the Alta Tahoe Natural Park. Although it was devastated by a fire in the summer of 2012, this corner of Guadalajara continues to surprise us with its exceptional beauty.
