In this entry, we will be posting aerial video province of Toledo.
We fly our drone in this abandoned city of Toledo
We recently did aerial records in an abandoned city Ear, in Toledo. As we see in video, the city is completely in ruins. Getting to the city by car is relatively difficult (we can confirm this), on a dirt road that climbs up the mountainside, but from the bottom of the track you can climb for about 20 minutes, and when we reach the top we have some spectacular views.
The story of the abandoned city of Oreh
The history of this city goes back to pre-Roman times. The Romans built a city over this settlement, which they named Aurelia. A few centuries later, the Muslims built a castle about 300 meters from the city to protect the kingdom of Toledo. Its location allowed it to control the southern bank of the Tagus River. The city was completely deserted in 1959 due to the difficulty of roads to reach the city, along with an aging population and the inability to direct the nearest water source to the city, so they had no water supply. It is currently owned by Antigol City Council.
Every year on August 15, old neighbors and their descendants continue to meet to celebrate the city’s holiday, trying not to lose the memory of such an unusual and, unfortunately, little-known place.
It is impressive to see the city both from the air and walking through its streets, imagining it full of life, with its inhabitants and customs, compared to the exciting silence that now reigns in the houses, interrupted only by the sounds of nature. It was a real pleasure aerial records from the abandoned city of Walnut.
We recorded the Almanacid Castle in Almanacid de Toledo
We continue with castles: this time we go to the municipality of Almanacid of Toledoin the province of Toledo to film another one of our country’s architectural gems.
We take this opportunity to fly our drones: inspire 2, our Phantom 4 and check out our new Mavic Pro Platinum. For this video, we’ll be using Inspire images exclusively, but you’ll be able to see how they compare soon.
This castle seemed very special to us: its origin is uncertain and there is no exact information about when it was built, since the first mention of it dates back to 840, when it was already active in the Muslim era. A thousand years later, in 1809, the castle was used to defend Spanish territory, witnessing the defeat of Spain against the French forces of Napoleon.
It can be said that throughout this period of time, the castle remained neglected on its hilltop before the development of history, makes us think about its mutability, how flexible borders and governments have been over the years, and how short human life is to witness it all. Things we think of as fixed and set in stone, such as a country’s political geography and identity, have undergone many changes throughout history: changes so far behind that it is impossible to imagine today.
However, a forgotten castle in the middle of the peninsula’s interior countryside shows us that the time scale we live in is reduced to a breath when we go back so far, and all the changes that have happened in the past make us ask ourselves what changes will remain for him to live and will we be there to watch them too.
In the meantime, life goes on, and so does the Castle.
Interesting: If you liked the video and also the castle, you should know that it is currently owned by the City Council of Almanacid de Toledo and that it is for sale, so it can be purchased for a small amount. price… With the only condition – you agree to restore it.
