DJI Mini 2 vs FIMI X8 SE 2020 (Flight Modes & License)

So I know there are a few posts already on this topic, but I still find it hard to make a decision. Especially when comparing them on their differences I haven't yet found an answer.

First of all, I'm a beginner, never really checked any drones or thought about getting one until now. Now that I decided to, I found these two to be the best alternatives for my budget.

From my research, they are pretty similar in general. The main difference being:

  • DJI is lighter and smaller. Very practical since I will also not be a heavy user, but
  • FIMI is more stable in strong winds, being heavier.

The problem is I have no idea how strong winds are so that I know whether the DJI is enough. E.g. I'm currently in the Maldives (hence the desire to buy a drone :) and it's pretty windy here, and I'm guessing higher up should be even stronger, but still no idea on the actual speed, here or on any other place like mountains etc. where I would use it.

Next point, Flight Modes: - DJI has a few, but no Follow Me and some others, whereas - FIMI has many more modes

Considering I'm a beginner, I think more modes should make it much easier for me to make nice videos, but I'm not sure which modes are actually useful and which may be just gimmicks.

Third point, regulations: - DJI doesn't need any flying license pretty much anywhere, at least EU and USA among others, but - FIMI does because it's heavier than 250g.

In the EU the license would still be doable and free, for now at least. But I also travel a lot globally and have no idea how it is in other countries, e.g. Asia, Africa, etc. Does the weight even matter in these 3rd world countries, is it just an issue in the western countries, or would a heavier drone complicate these processes a lot in the long term everywhere?

Last point, Price: - DJI ist currently 430 euros in Amazon Germany, or 570 with the Fly More Combo - FIMI is currently 290 euros at Banggood EU, or about 450 euros if I buy 2 additional batteries, a China bag, and spare propellers, but no dual charger.

So the difference between DJI and FIMI is about 100-120 euros in both combinations. I wouldn't mind the additional cost if DJI is really better, but I don't know because of the other reasons mentioned above. So would DJI justify the price, and second, if the prices were the same, would DJI or FIMI be better?

I hope someone who knows both can help because I'm a very undecided person. All my friends, also no drone experts, say go with DJI, but only because it's the more known brand, and maybe lighter. I myself don't want to buy it just for the brand but which is actually better. I saw a lot of comparisons but still can't decide.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Purchase and use of parachutes for drones

The new law will allow working in conditions that were previously illegal. One operational scenario that has been most needed is flying drones in urban areas or over crowds of people, and this will be possible with a few requirements. One of them, the one that drives most operators crazy, is that the drone has an impact energy absorption system (airbag or parachute). The problem with this is that AESA has not yet decided on the specifications that these devices will need. Logically, it is about introducing a new element for improvement aviation security in the use of drones, but in this case the indications for use are not very clear. The subject seems delicate and following the rules can be costly. We will comment on the current situation and how DronProfessional.com is handling it A parachute is a good item to minimize damage in case of accidental drops of the drone. They help minimize damage to aircraft, cameras and LiPo batteries. The latter can become dangerous, as they ...
